April 17 Committee of the Whole Meeting Highlights

Media Release from Cook County - April 19, 2018 – Following are highlights and key priorities covered at the Tuesday, April 19 Board of Commissioners Meeting:

Cook County Local Energy Plan (CCLEP)
Staci Drouillard presented an update on the CCLEP with a summary of accomplishments and next steps. Shane Steele was introduced as the Climate Change/Greensteps Coordinator for the City of Grand Marais. 

Update on Bonding

County Administrator Jeff Cadwell provided an update on proposed bonding projects including:

  • CSAH 5 Ski Brule Run Bridge replacement. Bids were opened on April 11, and will be brought before the board on April 24, for consideration and approval.
  • Updated timelines for both the Community Center Park Projects and the Hovland Public Works facility were provided.

Update on WOLD Jail/Facility Study

Administrator Cadwell also provided an update on the WOLD Jail/facility study. The Jail Study RFP was authorized by the Board in March 2017, and the contract was awarded to WOLD Architects & Engineers in November 2017. To date, Department level surveys and interviews have been conducted and a preliminary space analysis is being developed. WOLD consultants are planning to be at the May 2018 Committee of the Whole meeting to present preliminary findings and to determine the scope of possible recommendations.
