They work in Minneapolis, but their design hearts live on the North Shore.

Meet Studio MPLS, a small but elite design firm with offices on Lake Street in the heart of the throbbing Minneapolis/St. Paul metroplex.  But the design team hearts are inspired by their frequent visits to the North Shore, BWCA and wilderness areas of the Arrowhead.

Founded by Design Creative Director Dan Olson in 2009, Studio MPLS does brand design work for some of the world's most iconic brands including Jack Daniel's, Target, Facebook, J.C. Penney, The country of Belize and the Islands of the Bahamas, Panda Express, and many more.

But their design hearts are frequently drawn back to their love of northern Minnesota.  Dan Olson and his dog Tom enjoy spending as much time as they can at their cabin near Split Rock Lighthouse on the North Shore.  And the rest of his design team love to spend time in the northern Minnesota wilderness and bring it home to their own artistic creations.

"I encourage young designers to find inspiration in unexpected places; explore places where your mind wouldn’t normally go. find inspiration in all art forms, in nature and media.  The ever-changing landscape of Minnesota's wild places give us ideas for shapes, colors, motion, patterns and make our work artistically grounded in the beauty of nature."

The Studio MPLS team donated their creative services to creating the branding and identity for Boreal Community Media at boreal.org.  And they have recently worked for Fika Coffee in Lutsen, including designing their beautiful new "Red-winged Blackbird" logo.  And they seem to always reflect the allure of Minnesota wild places in the posters, apparel, gifts and other art pieces they design and produce to sell on their website:  studiompls.com.  Many of those items were offered as premium items in Boreal Community Media's holiday fund-raising drive.

Interested in having Studio MPLS work for your North Shore design project, they would be all ears and flexible.
