January 2, 2018 – Following are highlights and key priorities covered at the Tuesday, Jan. 2 Special Organizational Board of Commissioners Meeting:

Board Decisions

Board voted unanimously to adopt the IRS 2018 standard travel and mileage reimbursement rate of .545 per mile.

Board voted unanimously to approve appointments of Commissioners to serve on various boards and committees as discussed – full list to come

Board voted unanimously to the 2018 County Board Meeting Calendar with changes: 

• the Board will meet on the 2nd and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 8:30 am, in the Commissioners Room of the Courthouse
• 3rd Tuesday of each month Public Health & Human Services Board at 8:30 am, in the Commissioners Room of the Courthouse
• the 3rd Tuesday of each month will be a meeting of Committee of the Whole starting at 5 pm, in the Commissioners Room in the Courthouse to make these meetings more accessible to the public. 

The WTIP Interview Schedule was approved.

Claims were presented and approved by resolution #2018-01

2018 Operating Budget and Levy were approved by resolution #2018-02

Cook County News Herald was approved as the 2018 Legal newspaper by resolution #2018-03

Board voted unanimously to designate the Cook County website (www.co.cook.mn.us) as an official publication for County business and to require that all notifications printed in the Cook County News-Herald also be posted on the County website.

Grand Marais State Bank was approved as the designated 2018 Official Depository approved by resolution #2018-04 

Board voted unanimously to adopt the summary of Association of Minnesota Counties Legislative Policy Positions 218
