Auxiliary Unit 413 Helps Provide for Many

Dec 20, 2017 12:48PM ● By Editor

At the December meeting of our local American Legion Auxiliary Unit 413, members decided to help those in need here in Cook County in a big way. The local women in our auxiliary decided to financially support our local food shelf, the Senior Center, the Salvation Army, the Care Center, the Violence Prevention Center, in addition to sending $1500 to both the Veterans Home here in the Arrowhead and the Northland Honor Flight.

Through membership, donations, fundraising and charitable gambling (they have a pull-tab machine at Grandma Ray’s), our local Auxiliary has also financially supported the Cook County Historical Society with two significant contributions  and created a $2,000 scholarship for a graduating senior from ISD 166 to attend vocational-technical school or a two or four year college or university.

Would you like to become a member of this great local organizations that provides for our veterans, their families, Cook County, and the Arrowhead?  Applications for membership are available at Grandma Ray’s; you are eligible if you have a veteran in your family who is deceased or is living and belongs to an American Legion.  Please consider becoming a member, if eligible, or helping us if you wish to honor and support our local veterans and needs in our community.
