Cook County Blanks Ely 14-0 in Prep Football

The victory bumped Cook County's record up to 5-1 and celebrated a cherished Homecoming Victory.

Ely had home field advantage when it faced off against Mountain Iron-Buhl two games ago, but the team wasn't able to capitalize. No surprise then that heading on the road didn't bring a better result. Ely wasn't able to scrape together any points, falling to Cook County 14 - 0. Ely wasn't expected to win (the team is 22 ranks behind in the state), but no defeat is easy.  The defeat is only the most recent in a discouraging three-game streak.  Ely dropped down to.500 with a 3-3 record.

The two teams have their sights set on raising those records in their upcoming games. Cook County will face off against Mountain Iron-Buhl Friday at 7:00 PM. Cook County is forecast to lose based on state rankings, so it will be looking to overturn expectations.

As for Ely, it will battle it out against Kelley on Friday at 7:00 PM. Ely has now seen its scores steadily decline over the past three games, a trend the team needs to reverse pronto to avoid another defeat.
